As a Bout-Eligible Skater

Want to know how to become a skater on El Paso’s elite league? All are welcome in this league, we only require that you want to skate and love to have fun. Our skaters come in all shapes and sizes, there is no right body type for roller derby.

When you join, you will be inducted into our Fresh Meat Program - a 3 month long program where we teach you how to skate, fall, maneuver, hit, and whip. Once you complete the initial 3 months, you are eligible to pass an Assessment Test designed to test the basic skill requirements. After you complete the test, you are then drafted to one of our teams and are officially an EPRD roller derby girl.

Basic Skater Requirements:

  • Female

  • at least 18 years old

  • You will need quad skates, a helmet, mouth guard, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards

  • Whistle (optional)

Our bout-eligible skater dues are $20/month and are used to cover costs of renting practice space. You don’t have to know how to skate, we teach you everything you need to know to succeed.

As a Recreational Skater Want to be a part of the league and skate but don’t know how much time you can dedicate or can’t afford the monthly dues? This program is designed to allow skaters a chance to skate while allowing them the freedom to come and go as they please. You can show up to practice any time. Please note, however, that as a recreational skater you are not able to play in a bout until you become a bout-eligible skater.

Recreational skaters dues are a reduced $10/month and are used to cover costs of renting practice space. Come skate with us and make some new friends!

As a Volunteer

You might be focused on the skaters whipping and jumping on the track, but without our dedicated group of volunteers, we would be nothing. Are volunteers are the people who help to set up the track, hang signs, take tickets, pass out programs, and sell merchandise at the tables.

Basic Volunteer Requirements:

  • If you are younger than 18, you must get parental permission to become a volunteer
  • Be reliable
  • Love roller derby

 As a NSO (Non-Skating Official)

Like to get up close and personal but don’t want to skate? Our NSO crew is always hard at work running our penalty box, tracking penalties, timing periods of play, and changing the scoreboard.

As a Referee (Team Zebra)
